April 5, 2015
Well the day came that we had anticipated for months. Thanks to Vic and Cindy and the kids coming
on Saturday, we were able to get a half day early start. This appears to be the best thing that we
could have had happen. It allowed us to
shorten our mileage so that we could do a shake-down as we get started. Our first stop was only 200 miles down the
road. This will allow us to get through
Memphis after rush hour and on into Arkansas.
This first campground just south of Huntington, Tn is not too bad, but
it is very full. I am hoping that this
is not what we will face for the duration.
We are hoping to be able to call 3-4 hours ahead for reservations,
however, the owner of this campground tells me that his business is twice as
good as it was last year at this time.
Our trip was really not bad even though one of our cats,
Chester Mitchell(new one) was extremely nervous. He sang in many octaves all as a protest to
this torture. We stopped at a rest stop
for the cats to get a full overview of the RV and lunch. When we started back up Chester had settled
down and the trip was a lot more pleasant.
After a quick set up, both cats went to different ends of the RV to
rest. Maybe I should tell you who is
traveling this adventure. We Jan and I
have two cats Frosty, a 17 year old shaded silver Persian. The other cat is Chester Mitchell, a 1 and a
half year old shelter cat. We have had
these cats together for nearly 5 weeks now and they are not really fond of each
other. I should say that Frosty doesn’t
care for Chester. Chester is energy
filled curious cat, where Frosty would fit right in with Grumpy Cat, as far as
his attitude is concerned.
My level of anxiousness has subsided greatly after this
day. Before we got started I was “fit to
be tied” with anticipation.
