As expected we left rather early, sort of, 6:15. There were little things that had to be done. As we approached Nashville we were greeted by atmospheric fireworks. Not too much rain but still got us dirty. Proceeding on nothing of any consequence to share. I do want to praise the Tennessee Dept. of Transportation. Tennessee's roads a wonderful. Illinois and Missouri on the other hand are terrible. We bounced and bumped all over the place. Nothing was where we had secured it. In fact our shower door nearly came off its rolls.

We did get 511 miles in today and have a nice campground next to a county fair in Columbia, MO. I guess we want make it across the fence but, from a distance it looks big.
I'll learn how to place pictures later. I think you can tell which pic is of St Louis and the other is our morning send off from Nashville.

Tomorrow we Start

I can't begin to tell you what is going through my head at this time. The RV is loaded and we are down to just a couple of small items to take with us in the morning. This trip is exciting and scary. I can't believe a month of travel. Other than college and a couple of years afterward I've not been away from this little town that long. It may not be the fact that we are leaving home, it could be that the business is going to be without me. I know that it will go on without me. That may be one of my fears. Well, I am rambling like a friend I email regularly.

Our goal for the first 3 days is about 500 miles per day. I've never driven 3 days in a row for 500 miles. It is bound to be a piece of cake after all look at all the tractor/trailer drivers. I may find out why they have the attitude they have.

What we are traveling in is a 38' RV pulling a little CRV. This should put us at about 50' in total length (not quite a Mustang). It will be a little difficult to hit (not a good term) a Burger King for a snack. You know, here in 2010, we are beginning a trip west in a modern day "covered wagon". I have no pictures of a nearly certified... driver at this point.

The begining prep

Here is my first attempt at blogging. I just under 3 weeks we will leave on our western adventure. We being Jan and Frosty (12 year old white shaded silver Persian). There is a lot of prep that needs to be done and Jan has jumped right into and has begun packing. I on the other hand have chosen not to start until I have a better understanding of the potential weather. My procrastinating will delay my starting until about a week from the starting date. Camera equipment has been checked out and loaded (I have my priorities). The RV has been checked out and the only problem I am aware of is the central vacuum is not functioning (really critical).

I will not update this daily like I hope to on the road but, will update as new things happen. I'll also provide a photo account for pics made on the trip. I hope you enjoy this. Let me know your thoughts.
This photo is of our home base.
