Day 4 to Garryowen, MT Little Big Horn

Today, as all of our days started early with our morning exercise. As we started out we met about 9 motorcyclist who were gathering for a trip to Devils Tower. As walked past them we tried to get them to go with us for a warmup for their trip. As they past us a short while later at the base of a big hill they offer Jan a ride to the top of the hill. I thought this was very sexist, since they did not offer me the ride too. Yesterday as we walked down the main street in Sturgis, we were asked by 3 women(I think)bikers, if weren't "non-bikers". Evidently, our clean shorts and golf type shirts made us stand out from the leather jackets, chaps and black t-shirts. This made Jan realize how we see non runners at a run.
As we headed to our destination for the day, thirty miles out, we ran into some rather scary rains. Since we could see close to 20 miles out we could see lightening in two different storms that we were headed toward. The closer we got, we notice that we were going to go between them. This road that were on was lightly traveled. The major traffic was tandem trailer dump rigs. One of them dropped or kicked up a rock that hit our windshield. Later down the road we noticed a crack working its way up the front window from bottom to top. It finally reached the top about 5 miles from our campground for the night. About that time a second began and I expect it to reach the full length tomorrow. These "high plains" are beautiful. We have climbed a decended 1000' about 3 different times during our trip today.
Our destination was the Little Big Horn. I have never really understood the story about the battle. I have a little better understanding after our tour but it would have really helped to have had a guide that didn't begin 5 minutes before our tour. One of the photos shows where each of the soldiers died on Last Stand Hill. The marker that has a dark face is where Custer died.
Tomorrow we head toward Billings and beyond.
